Born in Center, Texas, on June 21, 1945, he was the son of Chester Skinner and Cassie Hughes Skinner. Charles dedicated a significant part of his life to serving his country as a member of the United States Army, where he completed a tour in Thailand. His commitment to service extended beyond his military years as he transitioned into a career as the owner-operator of Lou-Tex Rock and Recycling. Charles was known for his unwavering work ethic, often described as a workaholic who poured his heart and soul into his endeavors. Beyond his professional life, he embraced his family roles with profound passion. He took great joy in nurturing his family, proudly adopting the title of "Pops" to his granddaughter, who adored him for his big personality. With a jovial spirit, he had a unique ability to light up a room, never meeting a stranger and always prepared with a joke to share. A true lover of life’s simple pleasures, Charles found happiness in the little things. He had a particular fondness for sweets and took immense pleasure in feeding his horses, which provided him with solace and joy. His kindness was evident in all his interactions; he was a truly helpful soul who was always willing to lend a hand. Charles was also a dedicated member of Triumph Church in Nederland, where he connected with others in meaningful ways, embodying the values of kindness and generosity. He will be sorely missed, but the impact he had on his family and community will forever be cherished and remembered.
