Cheryl Ann Hardin, 64, of Orange, Texas, passed away on May 22, 2020.
A memorial gathering will be held from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Saturday, May 30, 2020, at Claybar Funeral Home in Orange. The family requests that loved ones bring a copy of their favorite pictures with Cheryl to the gathering.
Cheryl was born in Orange, Texas, on July 31, 1955, to Harold John Hardin and Emily (Provost) Hardin. She graduated from Little Cypress-Mauriceville in 1973 and went on to get her Bachelor of Science from Lamar University. She was a dedicated teacher for Little Cypress-Mauriceville ISD, West Orange ISD, and Orangefield ISD. If you ever needed a helping hand or a volunteer, you could always rely on Cheryl. After retiring, she continued to share her love for teaching by volunteering for different education organizations, including the Teachers Retirement Association. Every year she looked forward to volunteering her time to “ring the bell” for the Salvation Army. Cheryl also organized dances for the Jefferson County Dance Club, where she was a devoted member and sat on the board. She was passionate about dancing, her sons, and their families. The only thing she enjoyed more than being a mother to her two boys, was being a grandmother to Emma. Cheryl could always be counted on to share a smile, a laugh, and a good story. She will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Those left to cherish Cheryl’s memory include her parents, Emily and Harold Hardin; her loving sons, Lance Hardin and wife Tammy and Layne Morin-Bruno and husband Dyllon; her granddaughter, Emma Hardin; her longtime boyfriend, Jerry Meyer; and her sisters, Karen Blanda and husband John and Lori Ardoin and husband Joel.

Cheryl and l spent many days in line at Orangefield junior high waiting on our kids to get out; she was always so much fun. No matter what life threw her way, she smiled and kept you laughing. I haven’t seen her in years and was shocked and saddened to find she passed. To her family, you truly had a gem and l was blessed to have known her! Prayers for you all.

I will miss seeing my friend Cheryl so much! Although most of the times that we would see each other during the last few years were at Walmart, there are many wonderful memories from our past. From the times when our daughter, Tonya, would baby-sit Lance and Layne, to our working together at West Orange Cove CISD and attending church together at Cove Baptist Church. Cheryl, you always had me smiling and laughing. You were such a beautiful, happy friend to me and my family. Many prayers to your sweet family. Ronnie, Judy and Tonya Toney

Dear Family, I was so sorry to learn of your loss. Cheryl and I were friends through Orange County Retired Teachers, and we shared some fine times together. She was so proud of her granddaughter and spoke of her warmly often. My heart goes out to you all. Kay Kline
