Christine Merrell, 79, of Orange, died Saturday, June 20, 2009, in Memorial Herman Hospital in Houston.
Graveside services will be 1:00 pm Tuesday, June 23, 2009, at Orange Forest Lawn Cemetery in West Orange. Officiating will be Reverend Frank Davis.
Visitation will be at 11:00 am on Tuesday, at Claybar Funeral Home in Orange.
Christine was born on May 21, 1930, in Orange, Texas. She was the daughter of Vertis Berwick and Mae Davis Berwick. Christine attended North Orange Baptist Church and Bear Creek Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Homer Merrell; sister, Sue Pierce; and brother, Bubba Berwick.
Survivors include her daughters, Linda Kay Wise and her husband Fred of Houston, Joan Duncan and her husband Kenny of Bridge City; grandchildren, Sarah Wise, Matt Wise, Kensey Duncan; great-grandchild, Toby Allen Wise; sisters, Jean Govan of Houston, Barbara Gillis of Las Vegas; and brother, Al Berwick of Buna.
Serving as Pallbearers will be Fred Wise, Kenny Duncan, David Kight, Mitchell Kight and Jerry Berwick.
