Clarence Paul "Cooney" Bourque, 90, of Beaumont, passed away Wednesday, January 19, 2011.
The funeral service will be at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, January 22, 2011 at Claybar Kelley-Watkins Chapel. Interment will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park.
A gathering of family and friends will be from 5-8:00 p.m., Friday at the funeral home.
Mr. Bourque was born August 12, 1920 in Delcambre, LA to Rene and Anite Viator Bourque. He was a jack of all trades and enjoyed doing repairs for friends and neighbors. He proudly served his country during World War II on the Battleship Mississippi. His ship was with MacArthur at the signing of the peace treaty. He also served in the Korean war where he was stationed in Japan. Mr. Bourque received six battle stars for major battles. He was a safety inspector for Mobil Oil for over 36 years.
He is preceded in death by his parents; five brothers, including a twin brother; a sister; and his daughter, Paula Maedgen.
Those left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of almost 69 years, Lillian Smith Bourque; son, Ron Bourque; grandson, Mark Stringer and his wife, Jennifer; great-grandchildren, Dylan and Sarah; and a sister.
He will be missed by all his friends and family especially his wife, son and grandson. Many thanks to all who cared for our husband and father.
