Corbin David Erway

1957 ∼ 2018

Corbin David Erway, 60, of Orange, Texas, passed away on June 19, 2018, in Vidor, Texas.

Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m., Saturday, June 23, 2018, at Claybar Funeral Home in Orange. Burial will follow at Orange Forest Lawn Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m., Friday, June 22, 2018, at Claybar Funeral Home in Orange.

Born in Kansas City, Missouri, on October 28, 1957, he was the son of David Lee Erway and Norma Carol Braymer. Corbin had a big heart and the kindest soul. He volunteered his time at the Red Cross and Habitat for Humanity, always willing to lend a helping hand, to strangers and friends alike. Corbin was able to fix anything, and you could always find him working on something new, or putting his green thumb to use. He loved his grandbabies more than anything, and if you needed a shoulder to cry on, or a listening ear, you could always count on PawPaw. He will be dearly missed by all those who came to know and love him.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Norma Curran; step-father, Glenn Curran; father, David Lee Erway; son, Joshua Erway; grandparents, Orville and Jennie Braymer; mother-in-law, Alberta Lavon Harvey; brother-in-law, Andy Harvey, Jr.; and grandmother, Ollie Erway.

He is survived by his loving wife of 41 years, Judy Lavone (Harvey) Erway; father-in-law, Andy Fred Harvey, Sr. of Orange; son, David Lee Erway and wife Carey of Vidor; grandchildren, Emily Marie Erway, Brandon Paul Erway, and Gabryella Deanna Erway; siblings, Patrick Beebe and wife Cindy, Carol Lynn Gaspard and husband Tommy, and John Erway; brother-in-laws, Edward Harvey and wife Mary, Albert Harvey and wife Myrtle, and James Harvey; and sister-in-law, Evelyn Sue Kay and husband Clint.

I met Corbin through my friends, Linda and Clifford Dykes. Linda taught at WOHS and Corbin was in her class. He spent quite a bit of time in their home and my son, Jeremy, who was 3 at the time, loved to play with Corbin. When I found out I was pregnant with my second son, I asked Corbin if I could name my son after him. He was elated! He came by the house to visit many times. I am so sorry to hear of his passing. Just happened to see this and had to writesomething about my friend, Corbin Mary (Horn) McManus Hall

Corbin was my friend. It's been decades since we've seen each other but had recently reconnected on Facebook. I have thought of him fondly thru the years, recalling the fun we used to have at the community center playing foos ball...he was awesome at it...playing pool and just hanging out. I recall hanging with him and Judy at their house in West Orange and the help he gave me in a very stressful time in my life. I am so sad to see his passing knowing I'll never get to shake his hand again or see that pirate smile again. May God hold him in His hands and bring peace and comfort to Judy's heart. Until we all meet up yonder... Lastie Duhon
