Curtis Wayne Sonnier passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family when he went to be with the Lord on May 26, 2026, in Orange, Texas. He was born on January 19, 1953, in Orange, Texas.
Curtis lived a life full of passion and joy. He found great pleasure in the outdoors, spending countless hours hunting and fishing. An avid NASCAR fan, he also enjoyed tinkering with things outside, always finding a project to engage his hands and mind. He was a proud lifetime member of The Orange Boat Club. Known for his playful spirit, Curtis was always picking and joking with his friends and family, bringing laughter and warmth to those around him. Above all, he was a loving son, brother, husband, father, and grandfather, whose presence will be deeply missed.
Curtis is survived by his loving wife of 37 years, Donna Sonnier; his son, Joshua Sonnier and wife Shacail; his daughter, Courtney Sonnier; his cherished grandchildren, Danyl Sonnier and wife Chloe, Lauren Dear, Shayleigh Gibbs, Shelby Sonnier, and Raycelee Sonnier; and his great-grandchild, Waylen Sonnier. He also leaves behind his brothers, Richard Sonnier and Donald Sonnier, as well as many other loving family members and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Jessie Sonnier, and his siblings, Keith Sonnier, Clint Sonnier, and Raymond Sonnier.
The family would like to extend a huge thank you to Gentiva Hospice for their compassionate care and support they gave to Curtis.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, June 7, 2026, at The Orange Boat Club in Orange.
Cremation will be held under the direction of Claybar Funeral Home in Orange.
