Cynthia Cox Chandler, 69, of Lumberton, Texas, passed away on October 4, 2020 at her residence in Lumberton.
A Visitation will be held prior to the service at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 10, 2020 at Claybar Kelley-Watkins Funeral Home.
A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 10, 2020 at Claybar Kelley-Watkins Funeral Home in Beaumont, Texas.
Born in Houston, Texas on May 1, 1951, Cynthia was the daughter of Glenn D. Cox and Catherine Martin Cox. She was a loving wife and mother. She worked for many years as a teacher for different schools. Cynthia taught at Northwest Forest ISD, Liberty ISD, and Lumberton ISD as a Theater Arts Teacher. She also taught at Hampshire Fannett ISD and Silsbee ISD as a Drill Team instructor; she also worked at Edison Middle School for a time. Cynthia served on the International Thespian Society board of directors. She was a counselor at the Lakeview United Methodist Church Camp and served on the Texas Conference Council of Youth Ministry and Jurisdictional Youth Team of the United Methodist Church. Cynthia loved helping and broadening the minds of the youth all across Southeast Texas. She loved spending time with her family and friends. The memories she left behind will keep her alive in the hearts and minds of those who knew her.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Glenn and Catherine Cox; sisters, Glenda Peacock, and Catherine Hall Luna; and her niece Kathy Luna.
She is survived by her husband, Richard D. “Dan” Chandler; daughters, Dorothy Kate Atkinson and her husband Eric and Jenny Danielle Chandler; grandchild, Grayson Atkinson; brother, Glenn D. Cox, Jr.; brother-in-law, Keith Lamar Chandler; nieces, Diana Lege, Valerie Sterner, and JoAn Delafosse; and nephew, Richard Cox.
