Cynthia L. Martin (Peggy), passed away peacefully at the age of 74 on February 5th 2017 in Plano, TX from complications of a stroke. Cynthia was born to the late Eugene Davis and Rose Findleter on November 29th 1942, in Jamaica.
Cynthia left Jamaica for England in her early twenties to pursue a nursing degree. She graduated from Ashford Hospital School of Nursing in 1972 and enjoyed her work as a nurse in Middlesex, England. She pursued further opportunities and education by moving to the United States in 1980 where she received her Texas State Board License to practice nursing in 1982. She worked as a registered nurse at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Beaumont, TX for the majority of her nursing career where she was well loved by her colleagues and patients until she retired.
Cynthia was an avid reader and when not reading her books she loved watching her favorite TV show; Walker Texas Ranger. She also loved spending time with her grandchildren of which she was very proud of. She was a resilient and strong woman, overcoming obstacles to make sure her children were provided for. Cynthia was a generous and loving soul and continues to be well loved by her family and friends.
She is survived by her children, Penny Cummings and Douglas Martin; grandchildren, Brandon Cummings, Kaitlin Cummings, Ashley Martin, Naomi Martin; her sister, Rose Ramsey of New Haven, Connecticut; several brothers and a sister who reside in Jamaica; and numerous loving relatives and friends.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00a.m. on Saturday, February 25, 2017 at Claybar Kelley-Watkins Funeral Home in Beaumont.
