Don Daily, 62, a former executive of the Georgetown steel mill died Friday, March 13 in Kentucky.
A Graveside Service was held on March 19, 2009 at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens in Bridge City.
Daily who was working as president of Gallatin Steel at the time of his death, was formerly executive vice president of the Georgetown mill. He had worked at Gallatin Steel since 1998, according to company officials. "Don was a significant source of the success of Gallatin Steel. He was an outstanding leader who brought out the best in all the people around him," said Tobin Pospisil, General Manager Administration and Finance for Gallatin Steel. Daily was a native of El Paso, Texas and a graduate of the University of Texas at El Paso. He had served as chairman of the Steel Manufacturers Association. "Don was an important contributor to the rejuvenation of the American steel industry, as well as an outstanding leader and person. He will be sorely missed, not only by those of us associated with Gallatin, but also by the entire industry," said Lou Schorsch of ArcelorMittal, a parent company of Gallatin Steel.
He is survived by his wife, Beverly, sons Warren and Forrest Daily, and two grandchildren.
