Daniel Wayne Sunderland

Daniel “Danny” Wayne Sunderland, 74, of Mauriceville, Texas, passed away on August 30, 2026, in Beaumont, Texas.

Born in Orange, Texas, on February 13, 1952, he was the son of James and Josephine Keck. Danny was born in Orange, Texas, where he lived his entire life. He proudly served his country as a United States Marine, carrying the values of honor, dedication, and service with him throughout his life.

Danny dedicated many years of his professional life to the marine, oil, and gas business, where he began his career as a painter/blaster and ultimately achieved his final role as a Lead QA/QC Inspector. He took great pride in his work and in the relationships he built throughout his career.

Outside of work, Danny found happiness in the simple things in life. He loved spending time with his family, playing the guitar, singing and writing country music, working outside, fishing, eating orange slice candies, and being surrounded by his beloved dogs. He was a hardworking man who enjoyed being outdoors and never minded getting his hands dirty. Most of all, Danny treasured his family and the time he spent with them.

He is preceded in death by his father, James Hershell Keck; his mother, Josephine Herman Keck; his brother, Albert Sunderland; his stepson, John Perry; his granddaughter, Jules Avery Sunderland; and his best dog, Tuff.

He will be lovingly remembered by his wife Linda Sunderland, son Daniel Sunderland (Ronda), daughter Rachel Storey (Judd), daughter Rebekah Fry (Randall), and son David Sunderland. He will also be lovingly remembered by his children by marriage: Brandy Webb (Michael), John Hebert (Carla), Paul Schroeder, Hana Martin (Corey), and Juan Vicuna (Arlene), as well as his fifteen grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, nieces and nephew.

Danny lived a life rooted in hard work, family, service, and the simple joys that made him happy. Though he will be deeply missed, his love, memories, and legacy will live on through the many lives he touched. He leaves behind a family who will forever cherish the memories they shared with him.

Cremation will be held under the direction of Claybar Funeral Home in Orange.
