Darleen Bradley Thompson
Darleen Bradley Thompson, 91, passed away on November 18, 2024, with her beloved husband Fred at her side. In addition to Fred, her husband of 72 years, Darleen is survived by her three children, Rick, David (Kris), and Terri (Rich), six grandchildren Matthew, Morgan (Brandon), Kyle, Ryan (Monica), Kathryn, and Cullen (Allie), and three great-grandchildren Everly, Riley, and Logan.
Darleen was born in Orange, TX on August 22, 1933. After graduating from Stark High School, she married her high school sweetheart, Fred, at the First Presbyterian Church of Orange on April 4, 1952, where they were both members. Darleen raised her family with Fred in Orange, serving in the Presbyterian church’s children and youth ministries as well as with the Women of the Church. She served the community through PEO and loved working the Lions Club Carnival with Fred at the children’s Ferris wheel. Darleen was fortunate to have the opportunity to travel the world including to England, Wales, Spain, Germany, and Russia but her favorite way to travel was with Fred on the back roads of Texas in their 1929 Ford Model A.
In 2017, Darleen and Fred moved to Sun City in Georgetown where they became active members of the San Gabriel Presbyterian Church. With her children David and Terri nearby, Darleen had the opportunity to do what she cherished most, spending time with her family. Only a week ago, God gave her another opportunity to spend time with all her children and grandchildren when they gathered for her grandson Cullen’s wedding to Allie.
Visitation will be held at 12:30 PM, Saturday, November 23 at The First Presbyterian Church in Orange, TX followed by a funeral service at 2 PM and interment at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens. A Celebration of Life is planned for San Gabriel Presbyterian in Georgetown, TX at a future date.
