David Lee Lyons, 59, of Lumberton, TX passed away October 8, 2014. He was born February 17, 1955 in Port Arthur, TX to Vernon Lyons and Sherry Lyons Shell.
David was a U.S. Marine veteran who served part of his enlistment in Naples, Italy as a “favored” cook. Recipes were not necessary for David, and his men feasted on gumbo and other “home cooking”. After his service he held a variety of jobs including working as a test driver for Nissan.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Deborah Gray Lyons; father, Vernon Lyons; sister, Jeanne Lyons Rath and step-father, Walter Shell. David is survived by his mother, Sherry Lyons Shell; brother, Larry Lyons and his wife, Debbie of Lumberton, TX; sisters, Kathy Martin of Dallas and Joyce Achtschin of Florida and numerous nieces and nephews.
A gathering of family and friends will be held Friday, October 10, 2014 from 4-6 pm at Claybar Funeral Home, Beaumont with a celebration of his life to follow Saturday, October 11, 2014 at 1: 00 pm also at Claybar. Interment will follow at Greenlawn Cemetery in Port Arthur, TX.
