Reverend David N. Morgret, 63, of Mauriceville, died Sunday, August 3, 2008, at Harbor Hospital in Orange.
Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Thursday at First United Methodist Church in Mauriceville. Officiating will be Reverend Chris Harrison, pastor of Bay City United Methodist Church and Dr. Richard Burnham, District Superintendent of the Southeast District of the United Methodist Church.
Interment, with military honors, will be 10:45 a.m. Friday at Ft. Sam Houston National Cemetery in San Antonio.
Visitation will be 5-7 p.m. Wednesday, at Claybar Funeral Home in Orange.
Born in Pine Castle, Florida on December 3, 1944, he was the son of Melvin George and Delores Lydia Fairbrother Morgret.
Reverend Morgret served as a non-commissioned officer in the U.S. Army for 24 years. For the past 11 years, he has been an ordained minister with the United Methodist Church.
He was currently serving as pastor of the First United
Methodist Churches in Mauriceville and Deweyville.
He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend. He used his personal experiences of life to minister to others.
Preceded in death by his parents, Melvin and Delores Morgret and niece, Velvet Lorella Heiniger, Reverend Morgret is survived by his wife of 43 years, Nancy Morgret of Mauriceville; and three daughters, Tamara Dee Morgret of Canaveral Groves, Florida, Kandice Lee McCann and her husband, Timothy, of San Antonio, Connie Lee Purvis and her husband, Steven, of Honolulu, Hawaii.
Also surviving are his grandchildren, Cassandra Marie Morgret, Sara Renee Orr, Kaitlyn Nicole McCann, Justin David McCann, Aaron David Purvis, Noah Ray Purvis; sister, Nancy Dee Heiniger of LaOtto, Indiana; and five nieces and nephews.
