Born in Beaumont, Texas, on July 22, 1947, he was the son of David Gareth Purdon, Sr. and Nancy (Allen) Purdon. He was very involved with VFW Post #2775 in Orange, Disabled American Veterans Chapter 42 in Grand Prairie, and Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter 1013 in Grand Prairie. David was a wonderful man with a kind soul, and he will be greatly missed.

David was always a close family friend and as friends go we often shared a little mischief. We never had to supply bait when we went fishing as David seemed to be able to retrieve an adequate supply of raw shrimp from his parents freezer. If his parents noticed it, we never new. We probably used $100 worth of shrimp to catch $5 worth of fish.
When I was about 7 years old, I traded a BB pistol for a go cart without a motor. The next thing I knew, David shows up at our house with a motor he'd robbed from his dad's lawnmower and he installed it on my go cart. The fun lasted several weeks until his dad noticed the motor missing from his lawnmower. I always wanted to thank David for his generosity in providing me many hours of entertainment.
