Dennis Wayne Schmidt, 75, of Orange, Texas, passed away on April 5, 2025, at home.

Visitation will be from 4:00 to 9:00 p.m., April 12, 2025, at Claybar Funeral Home in Orange.

Born in Lake Charles, Louisiana, on November 7, 1949, he was the son of Joseph C. Schmidt and Mildred Jordan (Abide). He was a cherished individual who brought joy to those around him. Dennis worked as a machinist for Marine Industrial for many years. He got an earlier start helping his dad in his machine shop. Dennis had a passion for fishing, often spending his free time by the water. He enjoyed trying new foods and had a special fondness for his animals, especially his dogs. Dennis loved to stay connected with the latest in computer casinos, which kept his interest alive and entertained. He will be remembered fondly by all who knew him.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Mildred Schmidt; his brother, John Schmidt; and his sister, Stacie Williams.

He is survived by his son, Jason Schmidt; three grandchildren; two great grandchildren; siblings, Millie Schmidt Pritchard and Joey Schmidt; as well as other loving family and friends.

Cremation will be held under the direction of Claybar Funeral Home in Orange.
