Dewie Longmire, 86, of Orange, Texas, died Sunday, January 29, 2023, at his home surrounded by his loving family.
Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m., Friday, February 3, 2023, at Claybar Funeral Home in Orange. Officiating will be Reverend Chip Anthony. Entombment will follow at Orange Forest Lawn Cemetery in West Orange.
Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Thursday, February 2, 2023, at Claybar Funeral Home in Orange.
Born in LaFollette, Tennessee, on July 16, 1936, Dewie was the son of Birt and Ethel Francis (Bailey) Longmire. He was a longtime member of North Orange Baptist Church. Dewie was always hard at work, having worked from the young age of 13. He had an exceptional work ethic and owned and operated many businesses over his lifetime, including being the owner of a mobile home park. Dewie could fix anything and gave the best advice, never judging but always there to help, giving whatever he could. No matter his struggle, he always provided for others. Dewie was a very charitable man, but was also known for being a jokester. His family knew him as a very affectionate and attentive husband, and a wonderful father and grandfather.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Birt and Ethel Francis Longmire; wife of 66 years, Mary Lou Longmire; grandson, Chris Longmire; brother-in-law, Charles Huff; and siblings, Gladys, Earl, Ada Mae, L.C., and Neoma.
Dewie is survived by his daughter, Linda D. Longmire Mouton and husband Cloyd W. Mouton, Jr. of Orange, and their children, Chrissie Leigh Mouton and Brian Cloyd Mouton, Chief Petty Officer, U.S.N. and his wife Sadie Mouton, and their children, William Cloyd Mouton and Jakob Dylan Mouton; his son, David Longmire and wife Phyllis Longmire of Shreveport, Louisiana, and their children, Eric Longmire and wife Mimi, Amber Longmire, and Gerald Longmire; his son, Michael Longmire of Orange and his child, Camrin Longmire; his son, Douglas Longmire and wife Debbie Longmire of Orange, and their children, Amanda Cook and husband Cameron, their children, Leanna Davidson and Cynthia Cook; Brandon Longmire and wife Alyssa, their children, Jase and Sophia Longmire; Jennifer Macha and husband Jeremy, and their children, Abigail and Madilynn Macha; and Sean Longmire and wife Ciara, their child Sophia Dawn Longmire; and his daughter, Jane Longmire Zahar and her child Zakri Zahar.
Serving as Pallbearers will be Gerald Longmire, Camrin Longmire, Brandon Longmire, Sean Longmire, Zakri Zahar, and Chrissie Mouton.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project, St. Jude, or your favorite charity.
