Don was born on September 29, 1952, in Port Arthur, Texas, to Ray and Cecile (Bourgeois) Berard. Don worked as the store manager at Judice’s French Market in Port Arthur for many years. Don loved living on Cow Bayou and spent his free time fishing, hunting, and playing his guitar. He taught himself to play guitar and it was one of his greatest joys. He also earned his pilot’s license. More than anything, he loved his family, and enjoyed his nieces, nephews, and cousins. Don brought joy with him wherever he went. He will be missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing and loving him.
He was preceded in death by his infant sister Judy Marie Berard, his grandparents Milton and Edith Berard, and Edwin and Agnes Bourgeois.
He is survived by his parents and his siblings: Gary Berard and wife Sylvia of Orangefield, Texas, Laura Blacksher and husband David of Santa Fe, Texas, and Brian Berard and wife Kelly of Highland Village, Texas; his three nieces, three nephews, six great-nieces, three great-nephews, as well as many loving cousins and friends.
Serving as pallbearers are Derek Blacksher, Matt Berard, Sam Greenway, Larry Judice, Al Judice III, and Al Judice IV.
