Don Winfree, 83, of Orange, passed away on November 2, 2020, in Beaumont.
Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m., Friday, November 6, 2020, at Claybar Funeral Home in Orange. Officiating will be Reverend Lynn Ashcraft. Burial will follow at Autumn Oaks Memorial Park.
Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Thursday, November 5, 2020, at Claybar Funeral Home in Orange.
Born in Port Arthur, Texas, on January 31, 1937, he was the son of Ewell Winfree and Olette (Blanchette) Winfree. Don was incredibly hardworking, retiring from the City of Orange Fire Department after over 30 years of service. He was also employed through ILA Maritime Association Local 21 where he worked as a longshoreman, and in Beaumont where he was a crane operator. He retired from the Union when he was 80 years old. Don was a lifetime member of Madison Lodge 126 AF & AM. He served in the U.S. National Guard. Don instilled his work ethic and loving nature in those he loved and will be dearly missed for generations to come.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Ewell and Olette Winfree.
He is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Dorothy Winfree; children, Danny Winfree of Orange, Lena Duhon and husband Tommy of Orange, and Dave Winfree and wife Colleen of Orange; grandchildren, Ashley Pierce and husband Justin, Daniel Winfree, Tara Chitwood, Teri Lavergne and husband Marc, Trey Duhon, Don Michael Winfree, and Chelsea Winfree; 9 great-grandchildren; brother, Donald Winfree and wife Mary; and sister Geraldine Davis and husband Johnny.
