Donald Darrell Hasselmann, 76, of Orange, Texas, passed away on December 10, 2017, at his home.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, December 16, at Claybar Funeral Home in Orange. Officiating will be Superintendent Ernest Lindsey, of Starlight Church of God in Christ. Burial will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens in Orange.
Visitation will be prior to the service beginning at 9:00 a.m.
Born in Des Plaines, Illinois, on March 20, 1941, he was the son of Alvin Louis Hasselmann and Florence Piske Hasselmann. He proudly served his country in the United States Army. Donald lived his younger life as a mushroom farmer. During his brief stay in Des Plaines he was a member of St. John Lutheran Church of Woodstock. He moved to California then moved to Orange in 1995 and met Cynthia in 1996. They were married in 2012 and happily stayed together until death do they part. He worked as a travelling shoe salesman, a school bus driver for WOS-ISD, and for Orange County Transportation as well as a dealer for the casino in Lake Charles, La. He will be greatly missed by those who knew and loved him.
He leaves to mourn, his loving wife, Cynthia Jackson Hasselmann; daughter, Donielle Hall and husband James; step-sons, Chris Green and wife Shannon and Roy Elliot, Jr. and wife Brittany; grandchildren, Mikayla, Michaiah, and Moriah; sister, Laurell Linnabery; along with a host of in-laws and friends.
Honorary pallbearers will be Chris Green, Roy Elliot, Jr., and Frank Brown, Ronald Jenkins, Rodney Jenkins, and Ronald Rubin.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to those who prayed and sent cards and flowers during their time of sorrow, Claybar Funeral Home and staff of their great facility, the staff of SETX Hospice, and his loving neighbor, Mary Ann McDaniel.
