Donald Tarver, 81, of Orange, TX, passed away on May 24, 2021, in Beaumont, TX.
Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m., Saturday, May 29, 2021, at Claybar Funeral Home in Orange. Officiating will be Reverend Kevin Brown and Reverend Paul Southerlan of Faith Community Hospice LLC Chaplain. Burial will follow at St. Mary Cemetery in Orange.
Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., Saturday, at Claybar Funeral Home in Orange.
Born in Provencal, Louisiana, on June 14, 1939, he was the son of John Tarver and Lucille (Long) Whitworth. Donald was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, he loved spending time with all of his grandbabies. You could always find him in his garden or working on the yard keeping it in immaculate condition. Along with working outside Donald also enjoyed dealing with old classic cars, watching westerns, playing practical jokes, and loved animals. Never meeting a stranger, he was always able to make conversation and make a new friend. Because of his wife Rose and her influence Donald accepted the Lord into his heart for all eternity. He will be dearly miss by those who knew and loved him.
He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Rose Tarver; parents, John Tarver and Lucille Whitworth; sibling, Elbert Tarver, Mildred Riley, Glen Tarver, Gene Tarver, and Ottis-Ray Tarver.
He is survived by his children, Steve Tarver and wife Janna of Mauriceville and Tammy Zimmerman of Orange; grandchildren, Shawn Zimmerman and wife Michelle, Whitney Miller and husband Jonathan, Amy Zimmerman, and Logan Tarver and wife Hannah; great-grandchildren, Summer Zimmerman, Emma and Claire Zimmerman, Gwen and Isla Tarver, and Aidan Miller; brother-in-law, Bernard Rao and wife Marilyn; sister-in-law, Antoinette Rao-Southerlan and husband Paul; and many nieces, nephews and other loving family.
Serving as pallbearers will be Logan Tarver, Shawn Zimmerman, Jonathan Miller, John Tarver, Brian Riley, and Jerry Chesson. Honorary pallbearers are Bobby Baker and Donny Goss.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to American Cancer Society.
