Dora “Cooter” Faye Stanton, 92, of Vidor, Texas, passed away on February 19, 2018, at her home surrounded by loved ones.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, February 24, 2018, at Claybar Funeral Home in Orange. Officiating will be Pastor David Dalrymple.
Visitation will be prior to the service beginning at 1:00 p.m.
Born in Vidor, Texas, on December 13, 1925, she was the daughter of John Rufus Morse and Mary Ophelia Byerly Morse. Dora graduated from Vidor High School in 1943, went on to be an operator for Southwestern Bell during WWII, and then enjoyed her days as a Domestic Engineer. She was a faithful member of Pine Forest Baptist Church. She enjoyed traveling and being a member of the Vidor Gardening Club, even raising African Violets and Christmas Cacti. Dora loved her family dearly and will be greatly missed by those who knew and loved her.
She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Mary Morse; her loving husband, John Henry Stanton; 5 brothers; and 2 sisters.
She is survived by her children, Trudy Lea Stanton Terry, of Orange and Mary Louise Stanton Langley, of Thoreau, NM; grandchildren, Mary Elizabeth Stanton Terry, Sarahbell Stanton Houston, Andrew Michael Stanton Terry, Uriah Shane Langley, Allyson Anne Stanton Terry, and Elijah Walker Langley; and her sisters-in-law, Clarice Morse, Joyce Morse, Dorothy Stanton, Winnie Willey, and Odessa Hodges. She also leaves behind many nieces and nephews that she dearly loved.
Honorary pallbearers are Andrew Michael Stanton Terry, Uriah Shane Langley, and Elijah Walker Langley.
