Dorene Hammett, 88, of Orange, Texas, passed away on June 6, 2019, at her daughter’s home in Orange.
A graveside service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, June 12, 2019, at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens in Orange. Officiating will be Pastor Lance Faulkner.
Born in Earlsboro, Oklahoma, on October 30, 1930, she was the daughter of Thomas Hall Gantt and Modessa (Johnston) Gantt. Dorene worked as a nurse for Levingston Shipbuilding in Orange for many years. She will be missed by all who knew and loved her.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Thomas and Modessa Gantt; her husband of 58 years, Bobby Hammett; and her son-in-law, Billy Permenter.
She is survived by her children, Suzy Permenter of Orange and Deena Moffatt and husband Pete of Waco; her grandchildren, Shelby Crouch and husband Nicholas, Meridith Moffatt, Michael Scott Moffatt and wife Sara, and Alicia Permenter; and her great-grandchildren, Dillon Crouch and Emily Crouch.
