Memorial services for Dorothy Becker, 92, of Beaumont, will be held on Sunday, March 15, 2009 at 2:00 pm. at the First United Methodist Church Beaumont with Dr. Frank Alegria officiating.
Dorothy was born on February 11, 1917 in Verona, PA to Samuel and Roberta Jones and passed away on March 10, 2009 in Beaumont, Texas. She grew up in Pennsylvania and received a nursing degree from Columbia Hospital in Pittsburgh. She joined the U.S. Army and served as an officer and nurse in a field evacuation hospital with Patton's Third Army in Europe during WWII.
While in the service, she met and married Matthew Becker. They moved to Beaumont in 1948 and Dorothy continued her nursing career at Baptist Hospital eventually leaving to teach licensed vocational nursing at Lamar. She would eventually move on to serve as Director of Nursing Service at St. Elizabeth Hospital for 17 years before retirement.
She was at 50yr+ faithful member of First United Methodist Church and an active member of the Faith Class.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and older sister. Those left to cherish her memory are daughter, Mary Jane Mouton and husband, Jim, of Beaumont; grandchildren, Amy Krause and husband, Steve, of New York City, Stephen Mouton and wife, Lexie, of Beaumont, and Cullen Mouton of Beaumont; four great grandchildren, and sisters, Mary Kay Smith of Confluence, PA and Roberta Lee Kemmler of Whitehall, PA.
