Dorothy "Dot!" Griffin, 81, of Orange, died Thursday, March 12, 2009, at Memorial Herman Hospital in Houston.

Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, March 14, 2009, at Claybar Funeral Home Chapel in Orange. Officiating will be Reverend Kevin Kissel of Faith United Methodist Church and Pastor Doug Vick of Bible Baptist Church in East Bethel, Minnesota. Burial will follow at Lee Cemetery in Vinton, LA.

Visitation will be from 5:00-8:00 pm at the funeral home.

Dot was born in Vinton Louisiana on September 28, 1927, the daughter of Leon and Ruby Mae Courmier Garrie. She was an Elementary School Office Manager for the Los Angeles City School District. Dot was also a member of the Faith United Methodist Church, active in the United Methodist Women, Associate member of the AAUW, member of the Orange Photographic Society, supporter of the Heritage Museum and she loved to travel.

She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Winona Spivey; and brother, Don Garrie.

She is survived by her husband, Warren Griffin of Orange; daughters and sons-in-law, Gail and Ken Meehan of Menomonie, Wisconsin, Sharon and Doug Vick of East Bethel, Minnesota, and Sue and Jim Cook of Arcadia, California; grandchildren, Jennifer Taylor and her husband Curt, Hannah Vick, Lucas Meehan and his wife Angie; great-grandchildren, Natalie Taylor, Meredith Taylor, McKoy Meehan, Korbin Meehan; many nieces and nephews and other family members.

Serving as Pallbearers will be Doug Vick, Lucas Meehan, Ken Meehan, Mike Vickers, Stephen Passmore and John Passmore. Honorary Pallbearers will be Jim Courmier, Al Courmier, James Passmore, Doug Garrie, Gerald Garrie and David Garrie.

Memorial contributions can be made to the Building Fund at Faith United Methodist Church, 2497 Martin Luther King Drive, Suite C, Orange, Texas 77630.
