Dorothy Hughes Pirtle, 73, of Orange, passed away, Wednesday, September 5, 2007, after a long illness.
A Graveside Service will be 2:00 p.m., Saturday, September 8, 2007, at Orange Forest Lawn Cemetery in West Orange.
A gathering of family and friends will be from 6:00-8:00 p.m., Friday at Claybar Funeral Home in Orange.
Dorothy was born December 16, 1933, in Orange to Ralph Sr. ?Shorty? and Vira Lyons.
She worked in Orange as a legal secretary for the law office Dorman and Dunaway for over 20 years. She continued working for Jim Dunaway several years after Malcom Dorman?s retirement until she was forced to retire herself due to health reasons.
Dorothy enjoyed spending time with her family. One of her especially favorite pastimes was going fishing with her husband of 25 years, David Pirtle.
Mrs. Pirtle was preceded in death by her parents, Ralph Sr. and Vira Lyons, her sister Patsy Fisette, nephew Craig Fisette, and brother Ralph Lyons, Jr.
Those left to cherish her memory are her husband David Pirtle of Orange; sons, Jerry Hughes of Houston, Mike Hughes of Orange; daughter, Karen Basinger of Orange; granddaughters, Loren Hughes, Holly Williams, Olivia Basinger all of Orange; grandson, Keaton Hughes of Orange; great granddaughter, Jaela Spraggins of Orange; sister, Frances Jones of Orange and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
