Dorothy Rougeau Prejean
Dorothy (Rougeau) Prejean was born on May 16, 1919 in Vinton, Louisiana. After graduating from La Grange High School in Lake Charles, she trained at Charity Hospital in New Orleans to be a registered nurse. After moving to Orange, Texas she pursued her nursing career at DuPont. She met and married “Rudy” Rougeau, a native Orangite. After the loss of Rudy, she married her best friend’s widowed husband, Harold Prejean. Throughout her life Dorothy pursued her passions for dancing, gardening, bridge, golf and horse racing. She is survived by her daughter, Taska (Rougeau) Ventura and son-in-law, Frank Ventura, two nephews, J. Herbert Lowery Jr. and Terry James Breaux, cousins, Joyce Lopez, Beverly Breaux, Edwina Staudt, Mary Lowery, Marlene Jeansonne and Aline Chaisson. On April 8, 2018, Dorothy made the journey to her final resting place. Private funeral services will be held under the direction of Claybar Funeral Home in Orange.
