Dorothy C. Turner, 87, went home to her Heavenly Father on February 14, 2018.
A funeral service will take place at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, February 17, 2018, at Claybar Funeral Home in Orange, Texas. Visitation will be prior to the service beginning at 11:30 a.m. Pastor Michael Procella will preside over the service with graveside services following at Autumn Oaks Cemetery.
Dorothy was born on March 5, 1930, in Tupelo, Mississippi to Kittie Mae and Mascal Elijah Carpenter. The daughter of a Baptist minister, she was the fifth child out of eight children. Her family moved to Alabama where she married her soulmate, Johnnie. The couple moved to Orange, Texas in 1950.
Dorothy’s hobbies were painting and gardening. Dorothy had the prettiest lawn in the neighborhood. She loved to share her beautiful singing voice at church, best known for her rendition of “Oh Holy Night.” Dorothy was a very loving mother and grandmother and will be dearly missed.
She was preceded in death by her husband Johnnie, of 63 years; parents, Mascal and Kittie Carpenter; grandson, Aaron Lange; along with 6 brothers and sisters.
Those left to cherish her memory include sons, Terry Turner and Ronnie Turner and wife Jill, of Orange; daughter, Melissa Lange and husband Randy, of Sugarland; grandchildren, Shon Turner and wife Laura, of Austin, Brandon Turner and wife Jolie, of Montgomery, Dustin Turner, of Nederland, Evan Lange, of Dallas; great-grandchildren, Brylie, Bella, and Todd; sister, Katherine Blalock, of Orange Park, FL; and her brothers-in-law, Jerry Turner and wife Vergie and Kyle Turner and wife Judy, all of Orange.
Pallbearers will be Dustin Turner, Shon Turner, Brandon Turner, Evan Lange, Randy Lange, and Joshua Turner.
Honorary pallbearers will be Jerry Turner, Kyle Turner, and John Wynn.
