Dr. Jack Couvillion, 82, of Orange, died Wednesday, September 8, 2010, at his residence.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, September 11, 2010, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Orange, with Father Joseph Daleo, pastor, serving as celebrant.
Burial will follow at St. Mary's Cemetery in Orange.
Visitation will be at Claybar Funeral Home in Orange on Friday, beginning at 5:00 p.m. with a rosary recited at 7:00 p.m.
Dr. Couvillion was born in Vinton, Louisiana on December 31, 1927. He was the son of Willie Hazel "Wink" and Dr. Marsden Campbell Couvillion.
He was a graduate of Lutcher Stark High School, the University of Texas and Loyola University in New Orleans, Louisiana, where he received his doctorate in dentistry. Dr. Couvillion practiced dentistry in Orange for 52 years in the same location. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army where he attained the rank of Captain.
He was a longtime member of St. Mary's Catholic Church and was an avid golfer and bridge player. He enjoyed ping pong, board games and playing the piano for family sing-alongs.
Dr. Couvillion is survived by his wife of 56 years, Jane Couvillion; sister, Nancy Bloodwell; sons and daughters-in-law, Mark and Mary Theresa Couvillion, Keith and Kathleen Couvillion, Craig and Elva Couvillion, Dr. Steven and Tari Ann Couvillion, Ken Michael Couvillion; daughters and sons-in-law, Janet and Dr. Donald R. Collins, Jr., and Jean and Orlando Hernandez.
Also surviving are his grandchildren, Andre' Couvillion and his wife, Melissa, Henri Couvillion, Dr. Ryan Couvillion, Adriene Couvillion, Bradin Couvillion, Ariel Couvillion, Lucas Laughlin and his wife, Iva, Don Collins, III, Campbell Marie Collins, Patrick Fairman; great grandchildren, Blake Laughlin, Sean Couvillion and Ashton Couvillion; nephews, Jeff Bloodwell, Chris Bloodwell and his wife, Aubrey, Patrick Bloodwell and his wife, Rochelle and Matthew Bloodwell.
Serving as pallbearers will be Andre' Couvillion, Henri Couvillion, Dr. Ryan Couvillion, Lucas Laughlin, Blake Laughlin, Bradin Couvillion, Patrick Fairman and Lloyd Laughlin.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Mary's School Foundation, or Southeast Texas Hospice, 912 W. Cherry Ave, Orange, Texas 77630.
