Earl Eugene Heartfield, 77, was born September 10, 1933 in Beaumont, Texas, to Edgar and Neely Heartfield. He passed away on December 25, 2010, at Christus Saint Catherine's Hospital in Katy, Texas. A graveside service will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, January 4, 2011, at Magnolia Cemetery in Beaumont, Texas.
Mr. Heartfield served in the Army in occupied Japan during the Korean War as sergeant of an artillery unit. After attending the University of Texas, he worked for Eastern Airlines in New York City and he also lived in New Orleans, Louisiana. In 1978, he returned to Beaumont and lovingly cared for members of his family for many years.
Earl is survived by his sister, Lelia Holton of Beaumont, Texas; brother, Calvin Russell Heartfield of Beaumont, Texas; nephew, John Holton and his wife, Scottie of Katy, Texas; nephew, Randy Heartfield and his wife, Mary of San Marino, California; great nephews and nieces, Andrew Holton, Alison Holton-Wylie, Wesley Heartfield, Alison Moller, and Laura Holtan; cousins, Donna Compton and her husband, K.E., Amanda Kerley, and Audrey Miller. Earl is preceded in death by his parents, his brother, Edgar Heartfield, Jr., and his nephew, Robert Earl Holton.
Earl will be remembered as a man of deep kindness who laughed often and loved his family, great literature, classical and jazz music, and days at the beach.
