Born in Beaumont, Texas, on May 31, 1947, he was the son of Earnest Boykin, Sr. and Francis America Childress. A man of great integrity and honor, Nolan was highly regarded, not only by family and friends, but also in his community and work field. He was the Chief Construction Estimator for many years with STI Group. He was also a proud veteran, serving as a Corpsman in the United States Navy and stationed in Japan during the Vietnam Era. In addition to his successful career and military service, he was known for his selflessness and for being a great provider and protector for his family. He was a man of few words but spoke volumes through his actions. Nolan's love for his family set him apart. His favorite times were spent surrounded by them at big family get-togethers. He was a very Godly man and taught his children to love the Lord. In Nolan's free time, he enjoyed riding his Harley, especially on sunny days, and he was an avid hunter. One of the highlights of his life was getting the opportunity to take his dream hunting trip to Argentina. And if you wanted to put a smile on his face, bring him a strawberry shake. He was truly a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, and brother, and he will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Earnest Boykin, Sr. and Francis America Childress; his children, Kimberly Boykin Guidry and William Boykin Lyons; and his brothers, William Gene Moore, Jr. and Joel Allen Boykin.
Those left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 55 years, Jo Ann Boykin; his children, Beverly Lovett and husband, Justin, James Boykin and wife, Crystal, Belinda Danna and husband, Chris, and Celicia Biscamp and husband, T.J.; his 26 grandchildren; his 11 great-grandchildren; his brothers, Jimmy Boykin and wife, Karlene, and David Boykin and wife, Carolyn; along with numerous nieces and nephews and a host of other loving family and friends.
Serving as pallbearers will be son, James Boykin, and grandsons, Jake Guidry, Nate Buxton, Chris Danna, Jr., Cade Danna, Clay Lyons, Conner Lyons, and Charlie Cochran. Honorary pallbearers will be sons-in-law, Chris Danna, T.J. Biscamp, and Justin Lovett, and grandsons, Anthony Boykin, Blake Lindsey, and Nick Barron.
