Born in Warren, Arkansas, on August 26,1959, he was the son of Otis Hawkins and Elizabeth (Bateman) Hawkins. Eddie was married to his loving wife, Debbie Hawkins for 28 years. He loved her fiercely and always put her above himself. Eddie and Debbie were best friends and truly enjoyed each other's company. You could always find them fishing, camping, traveling, completing home projects, riding to motorcycle rallies, walking the Galveston Seawall, and watching hummingbirds together on their porch. One of their favorite things to do together was to make friendly bets on NFL football games for bragging rights at home. Eddie was a jokester and could always bring laughter into the room.

The grandkids were his pride and joy right after Debbie. Eddie said their house was really the grandkids house and boy was that true. The grandkids ran the show and still do to this day even with some of them being adults. Us, “kids” (as he still referred to his children) were just the taxis to get the most important people to his house. If you needed Eddie, you could find a grandkid and that is where he would be. Either on the floor playing, outside with them taking care of birds or Grammy’s flowers. Eddie loved having them help with work, even if it made his task take twice as long.

Eddie was a dedicated Project Manager for American Fence. In addition to his professional career, Eddie had a passion for fishing that brought him peace and solace. He also enjoyed watching western movies and was a devoted fan of the Saints and Chiefs football teams. His enthusiasm for these hobbies brought him great happiness throughout his life. Eddie will be remembered as a loving husband to his wife, a father to his children, and a doting grandfather who adored his grandkids. Eddie's warm smile and gentle nature touched the hearts of all who knew him. He will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all those whose lives he has impacted.

He is preceded in death by his son, Kenny Hawkins; and father, Otis Hawkins.

He is survived by his loving wife, Debbie Hawkins; daughter and son-in-law, Felicity James and husband, Clint; step-sons, Shane Forse and wife, Crystal, and Justin Forse and wife, Emily; granddaughters, Jessica, Lilly, Amanda, Loren, Gabby, and Tori; grandsons, Blaine and Jace; mother, Elizabeth Hawkins; sisters Barbara Bates and husband, Walter, and Glenda Lacour; as well as his dog Duke and many other loving family and friends.

Cremation will be held under the direction of Claybar Funeral Home in Orange.
