Eddie Marshall Farris, 87, of Orange, died Saturday, May 31, 2008 at Hermann Baptist Hospital in Beaumont.
Funeral Service will be 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, June 3, 2008, at Claybar Funeral Home in Orange. Officiating will be Reverend Lynn Ashcraft.
Visitation will be from 6:00-9:00 p.m., Monday, at the funeral home.
On Wednesday there will be another visitation in Glenmora, LA at Glenmora Baptist Church from 12:00-4:00 p.m. A graveside service will follow at 5:00 p.m. at Alexandria Memorial Gardens.
Eddie was born on May 6, 1921, in Forest Hill, LA. He was the son of Marshall Albert and Mary Gordey Farris. He worked for Sabine Industries as Senior Vice President for 35 years. Eddie was a member of the Masonic Lodge 356 AM/FM in Glenmora, LA and the Scottish Rite 32nd Degree in Lake Charles. He was also the past President of the Orange Kiwanis Club & Golden K Kiwanis Club. He was past Lt. Governor of the Texas-Oklahoma Division of the Golden K Kiwanis. He was also a member of North Orange Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Marie Swanson Farris; brother, Floyd Farris, and parents, Marshall and Mary Farris.
Survivors include his daughter, Anne Roberts and husband Richard of Orange; granddaughter, Rachel Roberts Keith Long; great-granddaughter, Shayla Long; girlfriend of 12 years, Ruby Holst of Orange and her daughters, Charlene Houseman and husband John and Nancy Smith and husband Ron; nieces, Sabrina Sonnier and Cynthia Saxon; nephews Sammy Swanson, Keith Boone, Larry Farris, and Richard Farris; and brother-in-law, Earl Swanson.
Pallbearers are Keith Boone, Larry Farris, Ricky Farris, Jay Thomas, Chad Farris, and John Houseman.
Honorary pallbearers are Dr. Robert Ingram, John Harrington, Dr. Homer Stuntz, Golden K Kiwanis Club, Sammy Swanson, Mike Swanson, and Billy Yancy.
Should friends desire, memorial contributions may be made to any Kiwanis Charity.
