Edgar Symonds Washburn, III, 91, a former resident of Orange, died Thursday, October 23, 2008, at his residence in Nederland, Texas.
Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Sunday, October 26, 2008, at Claybar Funeral Home in Bridge City, with the Reverend Bob Boone, pastor of First Baptist Church in Bridge City, officiating.
Interment will follow at Orange Forest Lawn Cemetery in West Orange.
Visitation will be 5-8 p.m. Saturday, October 25, 2008, at the funeral home.
Mr. Washburn was born on February 24, 1917, in New York, N.Y. to Edgar Symonds Washburn, Jr. and Ura Corwin Tilton Washburn. He graduated from Georgia Tech with a degree in engineering and retired from Dupont Sabine River Works as Chief Shift Supervisor.
He was a former longtime member of First Baptist Church in Bridge City and was currently a member of First Baptist Church in Port Neches. He was also a former member of the Orange Kiwanis Club and the Orange Lions Club and at one time was an established local architect, both residential and commercial.
Preceded in death by his son, Thomas Musick, he is survived by his wife, Marjorie Washburn of Nederland; son, Dr. Phillip E. Washburn and his wife, Deletta, of McAlister, Oklahoma; daughters, Barbara Musick Bridges and her husband, Barry, of Belton, Mary Musick Erwin of Beaumont and Delores Musick of Nederland.
Also surviving are his grandchildren, Gregory Washburn, Timothy Washburn and his wife Mary, Teresa Washburn Witt and her husband Lance, Cynthia Fey Chambers and her husband Larry, Rob Erwin and his wife Sarah, Troy Fey and 12 great grandchildren.
