Edith "Edie" Willis

August 29, 1943 — February 20, 2024

Edith “Edie” Willis
Edith “Edie” Willis, 80, of Port Arthur, Texas, passed away on February 20, 2024, at Oak Grove Nursing Home.

A memorial celebration of Edie’s life will be held from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m., Saturday, March 2, 2024, at Claybar Funeral Home in Bridge City.

Born in Port Arthur, Texas, on August 29, 1943, she was the daughter of Ernest Stafford Willis and Mildred Nadine (Mahon) Vincent. Edie, also known as "Meemaw" to anyone who crossed her path, has left us with an abundance of colorful memories and tales to remember her by. Described as the social butterfly, who never met a stranger, Edie was the life of the party. Her stories were always the highlight of any gathering- whether they may or may not have been a little embellished. Edie was a woman of many talents and interests. As an artist, she spent countless hours sketching and painting pieces that will be cherished by her loved ones for many years to come. Not only that, but she was also a skilled seamstress. Edie proudly took on the task of making clothes for her children when they were young. She could often be found spending time with her family and friends or enjoying a cold Dr. Pepper and a Little Debbie gingerbread man. Edie loved her police crime dramas but recently found a new love for a select few reality TV programs. She had a keen interest in astrology and quirky conspiracy theories, and at times claimed to have a psychic gift. Edie will be missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing and loving her.

She is preceded in death by her parents; son, Timothy Wayne “T.W.” Burns; and grandson, Christopher “Chris” Jackson.

Those left to cherish Edie’s memory include her daughters, Gina Jackson and Sandra Lucia and husband, David; son, Steve Jackson and Mari Conroy; grandchildren, Lauren Eatman, Kim Treuter, Lindsey Gotcher and husband, Reighlee, Maggie Lucia-Dixson and husband, Tyler, Ana Treuter, and Andrea Lucia; great-grandchildren, Elijiah, Andre, Everett, Calum, and one on the way; siblings, Roy Willis and wife, Margaret, Stafford Willis and wife, Brenda, Carl Willis and wife, Susan, Janise McPherson and husband, Don, and Muriel Ann DiGiovanni and husband, Frank; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and many other loving family and friends.

The family would like to extend a special thanks to Dr. Leonard Thome, MD, Dr. Barry Miller, MD, and their staff for their continued care over the last several years; Gentiva Hospice and the staff of Oak Grove Nursing Home for their attentive and loving care; as well as the staff of Claybar Funeral Home.

Cremation will be held under the direction of Claybar Funeral Home.
