Edna Mae Tucker
Edna Mae Tucker, 97, of Nome, Texas, passed away on July 14, 2022, at her home surrounded by loved ones.
Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m., Saturday, July 23, 2022, at Claybar Kelley-Watkins Funeral Home in Beaumont. Officiating will be Pastor Tony Thornton of First Baptist Church in Sour Lake. Burial will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Beaumont.
Visitation will be at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, July 23, 2022, at Claybar Kelley-Watkins Funeral Home in Beaumont.
Born in Orange, Texas, on May 15, 1925, she was the daughter of Edgar Adam Dorman and Edith Erin Dorman. Edna was a proud member of The Order of the Eastern Star. She lived her life to the absolute fullest and took everything life could hand her. Edna always looked her very best as she was in every way a southern lady. She knew how to work hard, Edna managed a restaurant until she took on a career as a beautician and worked well into her 80’s. Edna enjoyed sewing and spending time at her beach house in Gilchrist. She always loved to host holiday dinners at the home in Nome, she was an outstanding cook and made excellent dressing and turkey. Edna learned how to fly planes and drive motorcycles and even taught her nieces and nephews to ride motorcycles and drive cars. She spent many times with her nieces and nephews crabbing and fishing, hunting for seashells, and taking rides on the ferry. Edna is fondly remembered for her great sense of humor and beautiful smile. She was a wonderful caretaker for her mother throughout her illness as well as her husband.
She is preceded in death by loving husband, L.C. Tucker; parents, Edgar and Edith Dorman; sister, Marguerite Bell, Lucille Lewis, Beatrice Palmer, Louise Jackson, Irene Higginbotham; brother, Alonzo Dorman, James Dorman; niece and nephew, Georgianne Wilcox, and Freddy “Sonny” Higginbotham.
She is survived by her nieces and nephews, Brenda Van Slyke, Larry Dorman and wife Traci, Cynthia Weitz and husband Ronnie, Mariellen Overly, Lynda Jaggers and husband Greg, Phillip Palmer, Lynn Dorman and wife Amy, Bobby Dorman, Brandon Jackson, Robert Jackson; as well as numerous great-nieces and great-nephews.
Serving as pallbearers will be Greg Jaggers, Phillip Palmer, Lynn Dorman, Bobby Dorman, Mariellen Overly, and Lynda Jaggers.
