Edward James Britt

Edward J. Britt was born July 27, 1914 in Houston, Texas to Phillip and Mary Britt and passed away in Baytown on February 28, 2010. Edward served in the U.S. Army from June 15, 1942 to December 28, 1945 during WWII as a truck driver with the 323rd Regiment Service Company of the 81st Infantry Division. Mr. Britt was a resident of Beaumont from 1928 until 2004 when he relocated to Houston to be closer to family. He retired as a mechanic from Neal Jacobs Automotive Shop in Beaumont. He served as a deacon from 1961 to 2004 at 11th Street Baptist Church and Park North Baptist Church. Mr. Britt was preceded in death by his wife of 45 years, Agnes Willey Britt, and 9 brothers and sisters. He is survived by daughter, Toni Willey Forey of Deer Park; grandsons, Sean Forey and wife Melissa of League City and Ryan Forey and wife Aimee of Crosby; great-grandsons, Kaylon and Chance Forey; great-granddaughters Brynlee and Kolbie Forey; nephew, Richard Hancock and wife, Toni; niece, Barbara Tidwell and husband, Wayne, and a host of family and friends.
The family will receive friends on Friday, March 5, 2010 from 5:00 to 8:00 pm at Claybar Kelley Watkins Funeral Home. Funeral services will take place Saturday, March 6, 2010 at 11:00 am at Claybar Kelley-Watkins with interment to follow in Bland Cemetery in Orange, TX.
