Edward Lormand, Jr., affectionately known as “Butch,” passed away on Sunday, January 5th, 2020.
Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, January 8, 2020, at Claybar Funeral Home in Orange, Texas. Officiating will be Pastor Keith Tilley. Entombment will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens in Orange.
Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., Tuesday, January 7, 2020, as well as prior to the service beginning at 12:00 p.m., on Wednesday, at Claybar Funeral Home in Orange.
Butch was born on February 21, 1947 in Crowley, Louisiana. His parents were Edward Lormand, Sr. and Emily Dubois Lormand. At an early age he moved to Vinton where he attended Vinton Catholic School, Vinton High School and Lamar University. In Butch’s early years, he worked for Levingston Ship Building and American Bridge, and later retired from International Paper where he worked in Electrical and Instrumentation maintenance for over 30 years.
Butch was an avid car enthusiast. He loved restoring cars over the years especially, his Corvettes and his 1928 Ford. He loved attending car shows and won many trophies throughout his life for his cars. Butch was a past member of the Tri-City Corvette Club where he spent many unforgettable days.
He attended Faith United Methodist Church, and was a charter member. Butch’s greatest joy was his family. He will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
He is preceded in death by his father, Edward Lormand Sr.; mother, Emily Dubois Lormand; and grandparents, Alex Lormand, Marie Arabie Lormand, Joe Dubois, and Mary Gauthreaux Dubois.
He is survived by many loving family members: his wife of 51 years, Shirley Monk Lormand; sister, Marie Bonnin and husband Bobby; son, Duane Lormand and wife Rebecca; daughter, Deah Lormand Daigle and husband Brandon; and grandchildren, Cameron Lormand, Carson Lormand, Hannah Lormand, Tylor Bronson, Cade Daigle, and Emily Daigle.
Serving as pallbearers will be Cameron Lormand, Carson Lormand, Cade Daigle, Tylor Bronson, Bryan Bonnin, and Jimmy Patin. Honorary pallbearers are Bobby Bonnin, Elvin Ray Monk, Brandon Daigle, Bruce McClelland, and Kenneth “Frog” Richard.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Edward’s memory to Faith United Methodist Church at 8608 Martin Luther King Jr. Dr. Orange, TX 77632.
