E. F. "Buck" Almaguer, 73, of Orange, went to be with the Lord on Monday, April 27, 2009.
Funeral services will be 4:00 p.m. Wednesday at Claybar Funeral Home Chapel in Orange, with Mr. Richard Morales, officiating.
Burial, with military honors, will follow at Ida Wilson Cemetery in the Echo Community.
Visitation will be 5-9 Tuesday at the funeral home.
Born in Orange on November 16, 1935, he was the son of Torivio and Ignacia Abrego Almaguer.
Buck was a longshoreman and had been business agent for ILA Local #22. He was a veteran of the Korean War and served in both the U.S. Army and U.S. Air Force.
Buck was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Ignacio "Nash" Almaguer. He is survived by his wife, Janet Almaguer, daughter, Paula Ibarra and her husband, David; step daughter, Jennifer McGowan and her husband, Tommy, all of Orange.
Also surviving are his grandchildren, Kyle Mott, C.J. Shaver, Lisa McGowan, Monica Ibarra, David Ibarra, Jr.; six sisters, Petra Garza, Ruby Light, Pomposa Galavis, Ella Flores, Annette Barrientos and Mary Welch; and two brothers, Torivio Almaguer and Joe Almaguer.
