Effie Louise Sims

Effie Louise Sims died Sunday, January 30, 2011, at the age of 96. Effie was a lifelong resident of Beaumont, Texas. She was born October 1, 1914 in Fostoria, Texas to Frank Marion Sims and Estelle Fuller Sims. She is survived by nephew Gordon C. Graham of Bigfork, Montana, niece Linda Graham Weaver of Navasota, Texas and numerous nieces, nephews and grand nieces and nephews.

Effie was preceded in death by her sister, Edith Graham and niece, Carolyn Worley. Effie graduated from Beaumont High School and attended Lanier Business College. She worked for the I. D. Robertson & Co. Insurance Agency as a secretary and office manager for 55 years. She was a Charter Member of the Beaumont Pilot Club where she was a active member for over 60 years participating in many different capacities including serving as president in 1974-75. She was a charter member of the Trinity United Methodist Church where she was a member of the Friendship class and involved in many fellowship activities.

Effie loved to travel and visited countries all over the world including Japan, the Philippines, Europe, Canada and Alaska. She also traveled extensively within the United States, visiting most of the National Parks. The family would like to thank Mary Ellen Robertson for her kind attention to Effie in these last years and the caregivers at Len Rose Place and Compassionate Care Hospice for all of their help in her final days. In lieu of flowers, contributions in memory of Effie can be made to Trinity United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 5247, Beaumont, Tx., 77726, or The Pilot Club. A memorial service will be held on Friday, February 11 at the Trinity United Methodist Church, Dishman Chapel at 2:00 pm.
