Elaine Hammerly

Elaine Stanfield Hammerly, was born February 11, 1943 and died January 2, 2010. She was preceded in death by her husband, Virgil Hammerly, Sr.; parents, Lonnie and Ruth Stanfield; brother, Langston Stanfield; sister, Fern Stanfield; grandson, Micah Hammerly and son-in-law, Donald McCray.
She has four children; son, Virgil Hammerly, Jr. and wife, Mary, Rodney Dale "Chief" Hammerly and wife, Michelle; daughter, Ilene Hammerly McCray; son, Carl Hammerly and wife, Libby; brother, Robert Thomas Stanfield; sister-in-law, Betty Stanfield and brother-in-law, David "Red" Schmitt.
She also is survived by her 14 grandchildren; nine great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Elaine was a member of North Orange Baptist Church for about 40 years and at one time, was the 4th grade Sunday School teacher.
She was a graduate of Little Cypress-Mauriceville High School and remained an avid LC-M fan until her death.
Elaine worked at Dairy Queen for 12 years. She also had worked in the DuPont Cafeteria, Texas Home Health Co. and many convenience stores.
She loved her Sunday School class and her family. Her family was her whole life.
Visitation will be 5-9 p.m. Monday, January 4, 2010, at Claybar Funeral Home in Orange.
Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, January 5, 2010, at the funeral home, with the Reverend Lynn Ashcraft, officiating.
Burial will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens near Bridge City.
Pallbearers will be Byard Hunter, Robert Morgan, Blake Bradley, Alton Stanfield, Tony Gray and Herman Pachuca.
Honorary pallbearers will be Jeremiah Hammerly, Justin Hammerly, Grant Hammerly, Cody Pierce, Jacob Pierce and Stoney Pierce.
