Elaine Padgett, 69, died on January 11, 2009, at Harbor Hospice in Beaumont.
Funeral services will be on Thursday, January 15, 2009, at 10:30 a.m. at the
Claybar Funeral Home Bridge City Chapel. Reverend Killian will officiate. Burial will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens near Bridge City.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, January 14, 2009, from 5 until 8 p.m. at Claybar Funeral Home in Bridge City.
Mrs. Padgett was born on March 9, 1939, in Crowley, LA, to Felix and Ida Belle Spell Landry. She was a homemaker and enjoyed sewing and cooking. She was famous for her burritos and twice baked potatoes and was affectionately known by her friends and family as the Martha Stewart of the South. She was preceded in death by her parents.
Elaine is survived by her husband of 51 years, Larry Padgett of Bridge City; her daughter, Tammy Wilson and husband Kenney of Little Cypress and her son, Chris Padgett and his wife Susan of Monroe, NY; three grandchildren, Troy and Luke Padgett and Lori Williams and her husband Norman and great-grandchild, Sarah Williams; and one brother, Dwight Landry and wife Sharon of Seattle, WA.
