Elise Smith

April 25, 1929 — April 10, 2012

On April 10, 2012, Elise Marie Chesson Smith entered into her heavenly home peacefully in her sleep.
A graveside service will be held Saturday, April 14, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. at Rosedale Cemetery in Sour Lake. Visitation will be on Friday from 5:00 – 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
Elise was born on April 25, 1929 and grew up in southwest Louisiana. In 1946, she married her husband C.L Smith, and after he became an ordained minister, she would devote her life to bringing the Word of God to others. In her self-ordained role as Pastor's coach, she spent every Sunday, Sunday Night and Wednesday in church marking down the verses Bro Smith preached so as not to preach a sermon too close together and actively coached her husband in his sermons and public speaking with a phrase/motto he spoke of often from the pulpit that she had taught him-
"Stand Up! Speak Up! Shut Up!"
When not helping her husband, she was witnessing and teaching of God to countless people by teaching Sunday School, volunteering at the church, and preparing youths on their way to baptism.
She is preceded in death by her husband of over 50 years and her daughter, Deborah Borowski.
She is survived by her daughter and son in law Judy and Charles Hippard- Downs; grandchildren, Clint Downs of Austin, Kenesha Waggoner of College Station, Kevin Borowski of Houston and Shelley Borowski Bonney; and 9 great grandchildren
