Elley F. Doucet, 98, of Orange, Texas, passed away on November 13, 2018, at his residence in Orange.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, November 17, 2018, at St. Henry’s Catholic Church in Bridge City. Officiating will be Father Steve Leger. Burial will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens in Orange.
Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., with a rosary at 6:30 p.m., Friday, November 16, 2018, at Claybar Funeral Home in Bridge City.
Born in Gueydan, Louisiana, on September 23, 1920, he was the son of Leon Doucet and Mirza (Strodder) Doucet. Elley proudly served his country in the United States Navy during World War II. He went on to work as a production foreman for E. I. DuPont in Beaumont. Elley married his sweetheart, Helen, on February 20, 1949. After his retirement, he and his wife extensively traveled in their Air Stream Camper. He enjoyed fishing, watching football and tending to his large garden. Elley will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Leon and Mirza Doucet; his siblings; Gary Doucet, Mae Callaway, and Una Magness; and his son-in-law, Edward Broussard.
He is survived by his loving wife, Helen (Lopez) Doucet of Orange; his children, Connie Broussard of Orange, Mary Kelley and husband Michael of Orange, Theresa Clark and husband David of Hillister, Fred Doucet and wife Lydia of Deweyville, Loretta Cagle and husband Jerry of Bridge City, Rebecca Drake and husband Jim of Beaumont, and Dr. Daniel Doucet and wife Roxie of Corpus Christi; his 17 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; and 7 great-great-grandchildren and one on the way.
Serving as pallbearers will be Mark Broussard, Adam Cagle, Wyatt Cagle, Nathaniel Doucet, Brad Kelley, Brian Kelley, and Jaxon Wolf.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Orange Christian Services, 2518 W Park Ave, Orange, TX 77630.
