Ermelinda "Linda" Jackson

December 20, 1942 — April 10, 2025

Bride City, Texas

Ermelinda “GG” Ostonal Jackson, long-time resident of Bridge City, Texas, left us to rest on April 10, 2025. A Celebration of Life gathering is being held on Saturday, April 26, 2025, at First Baptist Church-Bridge City, 200 W Round Bunch Road, Bridge City. Visitation begins at 10:00 am with a service to follow at 11:00 am.

Linda was preceded in death by her parents: Ricardo and Rosela Ostonal, and her brother Daniel Ostonal. Linda is survived by the loving and faithful Norman Bailey of Orange, Texas; her son, Cary Jackson and wife Katrina of Bryan, Texas; daughter, Cheryl Royal and husband Keith of Bridge City, Texas; and daughter, Timi Jackson of Phoenix, Arizona. She was known as GG to her grandchildren Kelly Royal of Austin, Texas, Jordan Haynes and husband Hayden of Bridge City, Texas, Tanner Royal and fiancée, Larissa Engel, of Nashville, Tennessee. She is also survived by her sister, Nieng McDaniel of Little Elm, Texas; sister-in-law, Tita Ostonal of Coppell, Texas; and cousins Aida Langeletto of Pasadena, Maryland and Ester Browne of Lumberton, Texas, along with many nieces and nephews.

She graduated from Bicol University-Philippines with a degree in political science. She met and married Marion Earl Jackson, during his service in the U.S. Coast Guard. Upon moving to the United States, Linda became a proud, naturalized citizen in 1972. She worked for decades at Texas Instruments/Raytheon assembling microchips for the federal government. However, the most important role she filled was mother and GG.

Throughout her life, Linda enjoyed many creative endeavors including cake decorating, ceramics, floral design, crocheting, sewing, gardening, and cooking. She knew how to make everyone around her feel special and never met a stranger. Linda will be remembered for her generous, “spicy” and loving spirit.

In recent years, she faced her health problems with grace and grit. A special thank you to the patients and staff at Davita-Orange who became family to Linda over the last five years.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Linda’s memory to First Baptist Church-Bridge City Vacation Bible School, Humane Society of Southeast Texas, or the National Kidney Foundation.
