Ethel Cunningham

Ethel Cunningham, 92, of Bridge City, went to her heavenly home on Thursday, April, 1, 2010, at The Meadows in Orange.

Funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m., Monday, April 5, 2010, at Claybar Funeral Home in Bridge City. Officiating will be Reverend Bob Boone with First Baptist Church in Bridge City. Burial will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens near Bridge City.

Visitation will be from 5:00-8:00 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

Born in Marion, Louisiana on January 24, 1918, Mrs. Cunningham was the daughter of Joseph Sebe Perkins and Sarah Jane Smith Perkins.

Mrs. Cunningham had resided in Bridge City since 1943. She retired from Orange Memorial Hospital. She was formerly an employee of Bridge City ISD and was also formerly employed at Allied Chemical Plant in Orange. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Bridge City.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Lee Evans; parents, Joseph Sebe and Sarah Jane Perkins; sisters, Ruth Watts, Gladys Arrant, Clarice Graves and Frances Butler; brothers, Bill Perkins, Clifton Perkins, Tom Perkins and Elder Perkins.

Mrs. Cunningham is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Patsy and Don Peters of Bridge City; son, Bobby Evans and his fiancé, Kay Leboda of Rosenberg; brother and sister-in-law, W.L. and Anneliese Perkins of Lake Charles, Louisiana.

Also surviving are her five grandchildren, Kristi McLeod and husband, Don of Fairfield; Tammi Fisette and husband, James of Bridge City, Denise Miller of Pearland, Amanda Evans of Rosenberg and Robert Evans and wife, Brandy of Missouri City; seven great-grandchildren, Candi Cannon of Bridge City, Jeremy McLeod of Tyler, Jaymi McLeod of Fairfield, Krysta Morgan and Kelsee Morgan of Pearland, Maci Gerdes and Wade Davis of Missouri City; numerous nieces, nephews and friends.

Serving as Pallbearers will be James Fisette, Robert Evans, Don McLeod, Jeremy McLeod, Roger Paris and Delwyn Peters.
