Eugene Lee Coulter

Eugene Lee Coulter, 84, of Orangefield, passed away on April 20, 2025, in Orangefield.

Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, April 26, 2025, at McLewis Church of Christ in Orange. Officiating will be Todd Shores. Burial will follow at Bayou Scie Cemetery in Zwolle, Louisiana.

Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., with military honors at 10:45 a.m., Saturday, April 26, 2025, at McLewis Church of Christ in Orange.

Born in Grand Forks, North Dakota, on March 4, 1941, he was the son of William Coulter and Alice Coulter. Eugene lived a life full of adventure, service, and friendship. He worked as a draftsman at DuPont, where his meticulous attention to detail and innovative thinking contributed greatly to the projects he undertook. In addition to his professional accomplishments, Eugene served his country honorably in the United States Army, where he was stationed in Korea. His time in service instilled in him a sense of duty that he carried throughout his life. Eugene was an avid outdoorsman who found joy in the tranquil moments spent hunting deer and fishing. He had a particular fondness for travel, with memories of trips to Yellowstone holding a special place in his heart. Eugene's kindness and warmth earned him the affectionate title of "Grandpa" among those who knew him well. His friendly demeanor allowed him to connect with people from all

walks of life, and he had friends everywhere he went. A devoted member of the McLewis Church of Christ, Eugene's faith was an integral part of his life. In a remarkable moment in 1996, Eugene had the honor of carrying the Olympic torch during the summer Olympics, a testament to his spirited nature and love for life. Eugene Lee Coulter leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and unforgettable stories. His spirit and the memories he created will be cherished by all who were fortunate enough to know him. He will be dearly missed and remembered fondly.

He is preceded in death by his son, Chad Coulter; and his first wife, Barbara Coulter.

He is survived by his loving wife of 26 years, Rose Coulter; his daughter, Hollie Erickson and husband, John; his grandchildren, Jordan Erickson, Nicholas Erickson, Ian Erickson, Cole Coulter, Coby Coulter, Justin Fusilier, Jessie Fusilier, and Courtney Nesbit; his great-grandchildren, Levi, Abagail, and Ophelia; his brother, David Rocker; and numerous other loving family members and friends.

Serving as pallbearers will be Alex Ruff, Nicholas Erickson, Ian Erickson, Cole Coulter, Coby Coulter, Steven Fusilier, Michael Durbin, and Daniel Durbin.

The family would like to thank the staff at The Cascades at Port Arthur for providing loving support and care during Lee’s last months. They would also like to thank Don Juneau for his enduring love and attention in helping Lee and Rose with the upkeep of their property.
