Eugene V. "Rawhide" Williams, 88, of Orange, died Wednesday, October 13, 2010, at his home.
Graveside service will be 10:00 a.m. Saturday, October 16, at Evergreen Cemetery in Orange. Officiating will be Reverend Paul Fregia of Pecan Acres Baptist Church in Vidor.
Visitation will be from 5:00-7:00 p.m., Friday at Claybar Funeral Home in Bridge City.
Born in Orange on March 9, 1922, Eugene was the son of Blanch Hamerly and Jim Henry Williams. He served in the U.S. Army during WWII and was a welder at Gulf Refinery for almost 38 years. Eugene was a member of the Bridge City Masonic Lodge # 1345 AF & AM, the Orange County Sheriff Posse, and was also a local cattleman.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Inez Williams; brothers, Donald Williams and Murl Williams; and sisters, Opal Holland, Zelma Lloyd and Elsie Mae Williams.
Eugene is survived by his daughter, Charlotte Richardson of Orange; and son, Gene Wayne Williams of Orange.
He is also survived by his three grandchildren, Christy, Jerri Ann and Jason; five great-grandchildren; and one great great-grandchild.
