Eunice Cormier Youngblood

Eunice Marie Cormier Youngblood, 89, of Beaumont, died Tuesday, February 22, 2011. Born June 4, 1921 to Jacques and Evelyna Cormier in Toomey, Louisiana, she was a graduate of Vinton High School. Soon after high school, she moved to Beaumont to attend Chenier Business College. After graduating, she began working in Beaumont and met Bennie Bud Youngblood. The two married on May 24, 1941. She soon became a homemaker and mother of four. Returning to the workforce after more than 20 years at home, she began working as a teacher?s aide assisting with the special education department at both Pietzsch Elementary and the CP Center. Having a gift for working with special needs children, she loved what she did and retired in 1984 from Beaumont Independent School District. Appreciating the importance of education, she encouraged her children and grandchildren to continue their education past high school and all of her grandchildren went on to graduate college.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, Bennie Allen Youngblood, Sr; siblings, Thomas Cormier, Doyle Cormier, Doris Henshaw, Jessie Cormier, and Nolan Cormier. Survivors include her children, Judy Barnett and her husband Donnie of Beaumont, Texas, Brenda LaBorde and her husband Charles of Charlotte, North Carolina, Bennie Youngblood, Jr., and his wife Jeanie of Beaumont, Texas, Cheryl Hobbs and her husband Ron of Beaumont, Texas; brothers, Everd Cormier and his wife Chris of Irving, Texas, and Earl Cormier of Orange, Texas; grandchildren, Dr. Jason Barnett and his wife Brooke, Alicia Colley, Joshua Youngblood and his wife Sarah, Lee LaBorde and her husband Adam McBroom, Meryl LaBorde, Brett Hobbs, and Kimberly Hobbs; great-grandchildren, Luke Barnett, Samuel Barnett, Morgan Barnett, and Jacob Youngblood; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be Saturday, February 26, 2011 at 1:00 p.m. at Claybar Kelley-Watkins Funeral Home, 1155 N. 11th Street, Beaumont with Reverend Terry Wright officiating. A gathering of family and friends will be Friday, February 25, 2011 from 6:00 ? 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
