Evelyn Juanita Goodell, 83, died Thursday, December 13, 2007 surrounded by family and the angels that work at Harbor Hospice. She fought a courageous battle then slipped into the arms of the Lord at 4:35 p.m.
Evelyn was born in Athens, Texas, October 10, 1924, but resided most of her life in Beaumont. One of her greatest loves was just sitting around the kitchen table with her family and all those grandkids. Throughout her life in Beaumont, she enjoyed working at Sears years ago with her sister-in-law and close friend, Melissa Woodruff, doing ceramics, sewing, playing with Tiney and Kelly, cooking beans and cornbread, and roadtrips to the coast, especially on anniversaries.
Evelyn was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, aunt, sister-in-law, and friend. Everyone that knew her was truly blessed to be part of her sweet life.
Not enough words can be said to express our deep gratitude to the doctors and staff of Harbor Hospice. Dr Anwar, Dr. Stout, Dr. Aziz, Chaplain Rocky, Chaplain Glen, Cheryl, Bridgett, Colleen, Mae, Sheka, Melissa, Michelle B., Rose, Arianna, Kimberly, Cindy, Lorie, Jide, and Yolanda all have special places in Heaven. They are all truly angels of God that gently helped our mom through this transition.
Evelyn was preceded in death by her parents, Arthur and Myrtle Kinsey and brothers, Everett and RB Kinsey. Those left to cherish her memory are her husband of 65 years, Charlie Joe Goodell; sons, David Goodell of Beaumont, Bill Goodell of Houston; daughters, Joy Todora of Boynton Beach, Florida and Paula Kimmich of Reno, Nevada. She is also survived by 11 grandchildren and 2.5 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be Sunday, December 16, 2007 at 10:00 a.m. in the Charles S. Kelley Memorial Chapel at Claybar Kelley-Watkins Funeral Home with burial following in Restlawn Memorial Park in Vidor. Her family will receive guests from 4-6:00 p.m. on Saturday.
Serving as pallbearers will be her grandsons, Benjamin Goodell, Phillip Goodell, Allan Goodell, Preston Goodell, Kevin Todora, Kyle Todora, Scott Russell and Bryan Russell.
