Forrest Richard “Dick” Worthey, 88, of Beaumont, went to be with the Lord Thursday, April 14, 2016. A gathering of friends and family will be from 5-8 p.m. Sunday, April 17, 2016 at Claybar Kelley-Watkins Funeral Home. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Monday, April 18, 2016 at Sabine Tabernacle. Reverend James Boykin will be officiating. Interment will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park. Serving as pallbearers will be David Monk, Alan Worthey, Glenn Worthey, Scott Hilton, Robert Sutton III, and Derek McWilliams. Honorary pallbearers will be Robert Sutton, Jr. and Mike Monk.
Born November 29, 1927 in Rockland, Texas, Dick was a long time member of the Sabine Tabernacle Church Family, where he served as a Deacon, Sunday School Superintendent, and Usher. He will be remembered as a true Christian, loving husband, devoted father and father-in-law, loving brother, brother-in-law, and uncle and a true friend.
After graduating from Comnesneil High School, Dick soon moved to Beaumont. When he returned from being stationed in Japan with the U.S. Army’s 24th infantry division during the Korean War, Dick married the love of his life, his wife of 57 years, Theolyn. Soon, they started their family. He always put his family ahead of himself, being a true role model.
Dick is survived by his daughter, Judy Wells and husband Jack of Beaumont; son, Richard Worthey of Beaumont; son, Wes Worthey and wife Penny of Beaumont; son, Tim Worthey of Beaumont; granddaughter, Carrie Bernard of Beaumont; great-grandchildren Cashton and Zoie; and a host of nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. He was proceeded in death by his wife, Theolyn Munson Worthey; parents, Henry J. “Pop” and Myrtie I. “Mom” Worthey; sisters, Violene Sutton and husband Robert, Aliece Monk and husband David, Jean Baxter and husband Jack, Paula Hilton and husband Herbert; and brother Jack Worthey.
